About me

Peter Whitehead is a Partner at Hazan Hollander. Peter qualified at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2000 with double degrees in Applied Chemistry, BSc and Bachelor of Laws, LLB with First Class Honours. He is a Legal Practitioner and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and of the High Court of Australia.

Peter specialises in both litigious and non-litigious areas of intellectual property law (including trade marks, copyright, designs, patents, confidential information, passing off and contravention of s 18 of the Australian Consumer Law (previously s 52 of the Trade Practices Law)).  He also practises extensively in the areas of commercial law, commercial litigation and equity.

Peter aims to keep his clients out of Court and considers Court proceedings to be an absolute last resort. He engages a number of alternative dispute resolution techniques to achieve positive outcomes for clients and has been involved in numerous private and Court ordered mediations.  Sometimes, however, Court proceedings are unavoidable and Peter has successfully acted for clients in a number of leading cases in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Australia, and the Australian Trade Marks Office, including:
